Don’t worry, we have you covered for all of your hemp and CBD curiosities. We are long time business owners in the renewable energy, cannabis, and hemp industries, so we have a lot to say about these newer marketplaces!

First, buying hemp and CBD products should be approached with caution. Unfortunately, we find that many of the products available today are liable to have inconsistent, or no CBD or hemp in them, or even worse use raw materials that are contaminated or unsafe. As the industry matures, governing bodies will require protocols and regulations are followed to ensure safe and quality products that are as advertised. In the meantime, you can buy with confidence at CBD Universe, as we independently test every product that we carry. Any products that are found on this site are guaranteed to be as advertised.

If you’re buying outside of the CBD Universe network, make sure that you’re watching out for:

image of a checkmarkTHC warnings: THC is one of the cannabinoids that has psychoactive effects, and the legal limit per the Farm Bill of 2018 is less than 0.3%. Over 50% of the CBD products in the market today claim to have no THC, but when 3rd party tested they were found to have illegal amounts of THC in them and were causing people to fail drug tests!

image of a checkmarkContaminated Products: recent studies have found that over 65% of the CBD and Hemp products in the market place today have contaminants such as microbials, pesticides, and even heavy metals like arsenic!

First, what is CBD?

CBD is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in hemp plants! Each terpene and cannabinoid are assumed to have different interactions and effects with our bodies. Some clarifications that may be useful:

image of a green checkmark‘Hemp Oil’: be careful! Products that say this could have no cannabinoids at all! Typically, this is a cold pressed oil from hemp seeds or stock and does not have the cannabinoid content that you are likely looking for.

image of a green checkmark‘Broad Spectrum’: this term indicates that there is CBD present, as well as at least 1 other cannabinoid or terpene. At CBD Universe, our broad spectrum has a Phyto cannabinoid rich concentration of all of the cannabinoids for maximum effects.

image of a green checkmark‘Full Spectrum’: this term indicates that this is a product that has all cannabinoids that would have been present in the plant. Including THC, even at the legal limit of less than 0.3% if you are worried about drug tests or any psychoactive effects, know that there is likely THC present in these.

How terpenes found in hemp may affect you

Why are cannabinoids thought to be able to help certain conditions?

Well, we all have an endocannabinoid system that is known to interact with cannabinoids, and it is even believed that in order to have a healthy endocannabinoid system we must consume cannabinoid rich goods.

While your body naturally produces cannabinoids, CBD products are another means of giving your body cannabinoids to trigger reactions within the ECS. The ECS can control everything from autophagy (the process in which a cell will get rid of and recycle any parts that aren’t functioning
properly) to communication between different cell types.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) comprises two types of receptors: CB1 and CB2, which serve distinct functions in our well-being. CB1 receptors are primarily found in the brain and central nervous system. CB2 receptors are mostly found in peripheral organs, especially cells associated with
the immune system. CBD doesn’t directly fit CB1 & CB2 receptors but has powerful indirect effects still being studied.

Our cannabinoid rich products will not get you high and contain either no THC, or less than 0.3% and are clearly marked on the product pages.
